Air Quality Permits – How to Obtain, How to Comply

SERIES DESCRIPTION:

The webinar is designed as basic air quality permitting/compliance training for environmental managers who are new to air quality permits or experienced environmental managers who would like a refresher. The webinar will provide an overview of the federal and state air quality regulations, and will discuss regulations applicable to a wide variety of industrial sites (e.g., engine/boiler regulations, refrigerant management, paint booths, metal fabrication).  The webinar will also discuss state permitting nuances, emissions inventories, and compliance reporting.

Tuesday, September 22nd

Air Permitting Fundamentals: 

The first session will cover basic concepts that underlie the air permitting process, including a discussion of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), types of regulated pollutants, common emission sources, and air pollution control devices.  With this framework, the session will go on to describe the general permitting process, including types of air permits, typical permitting steps, and calculating potential to emit (PTE).   

Tuesday, September 29th

Obtaining and Complying with Air Permits: 

The second session will cover more nuanced permitting and compliance topics, including National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP), New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), Title V permits, and state/local permits.  The session will also touch on reporting requirements that are often associated with permits, such as emissions inventories and compliance reporting.  Discussions will be relevant to a wide variety of emission sources such as engines, boilers, refrigerant-containing equipment, paint booths, and metal fabrication processes
