What Role Can Waste-Based Renewable Energy Play in State Clean Power Plans and EPA's Proposed Federal Plan?

This webinar is a panel discussion on what role waste-based renewable energy can play in helping states meet reduction targets required by the Clean Power Plan. Waste-based renewable energy which includes waste to energy and landfill gas to energy is recognized in 29 State Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) as viable solutions to offset fossil fuel derived electricity.  However as proposed, the Federal Plan appears to not accommodate for waste based renewable energy which conflicts with 29 state RPS. How can EPA and States remove barriers to leverage and maximize waste based renewable energy in developing State Clean Power Plans?  Panelists will discuss how best to integrate waste-based renewable energy options in Clean Power Plans, why barriers exist in the proposed Federal Plan and how best to remove these barriers so states and tribal countries can rely on them as part of a federally-approved state plan.
