Nano-remediation has now moved from development into field demonstrations. Drs. Chiang and Elliott will discuss the use of nanoparticle-based agents for site remediation in situ. The panelists will review particle sizes, the sources of nanoscale materials, and how they are selected. The discussion will also focus on the advantages and limitations of nano-remediation when used for site cleanup, and the applications of nano zero-valent iron (nZVI). The challenges, key factors in designing delivery approaches, regulatory constraints and costs will also be communicated. Finally, a case study of the field use of nano-remediation will be presented.
