Under Section 313 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), a facility is required to annually submit Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reports to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and to the applicable state regulatory authority for TRI-listed chemicals that are manufactured, processed or otherwise used in quantities exceeding reporting thresholds. TRI reports are due by July 1 for each toxic chemical exceeding a TRI reporting threshold during the previous calendar year.
The discussion will include a brief background of TRI, how to determine if required to report, what you need to report, some tips to streamline your reporting efforts and avoid common pitfalls and a discussion of new TRI requirements, including the recent addition of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to the TRI reportable toxic chemical list.
